Painting

The painting process and the quality of the paint are among the most important factors in the long-term durability and look of wooden windows.

A whole science lies behind the painting of wooden windows. HAUFEN® has 60 years of experience and, with it, deep know-how in paints, which together with today’s technology protects the surface of the wood and guarantees a flawless finish and attention to detail.

Paint quality is one of the main reasons our customers choose us: an exceptionally well-finished result that lasts longer.

Over the last 20 years HAUFEN® has installed thousands of wooden windows on the Greek islands, in houses by the sea and in the mountains, exposed to truly harsh weather. Their paint has held up perfectly and earned our reputation. That success is no accident.

The painting cycle

Painting takes place in state-of-the-art robotic electrostatic painting facilities and includes the following stages:

  1. Impregnation

The window is sprayed and fully flooded with fungicidal preservatives in a flow-coating chamber.

  2. Drying

In a closed room with controlled temperature and humidity, followed by sanding of the surface by machine and by hand.

  3. Robotic electrostatic painting

A four-stage cycle with varnish and colourants or RAL colours. Every stage is followed by the necessary drying time, sanding of the surface and strict quality control, up to the final coat.

Open-pore, eco-friendly paints

All our paints are “open-pore” and elastic, so that the wood, a natural material, can “breathe” and the paint surface does not crack.

HAUFEN® uses eco-friendly water-based paints from the leading maker Sigma (part of the PPG group) and Teknos Gori, which guarantee an excellent finish, long-lasting resistance to harsh weather with changes in temperature and humidity, effective UV protection and easy care.

Painting starts by treating the wood against insects and removing all fungi, followed by multiple coats of paint. HAUFEN®’s painting cycle takes about eight days: time-consuming, but it ensures quality and durability.
