Technical features
Timber
Grade A Malaysian Dark Red Meranti, dried to 9–11% moisture.
For some types of shutter, marine plywood is used instead of solid wood for strength and reliability.
More about our timber here.
Frame
Solid, cross-section 113 x 72mm.
The exact frame section follows the technical requirements of each project, so every quote states the section we propose: 47 / 94 / 113 / 140 / 150 and so on.
A special rebate in the frame also carries the mechanism and guides of the mosquito net.
Sash
44mm thick, solid wood (44 x 80mm or 44 x 70mm), or, for boarded types, grade A marine plywood 40mm thick, veneered.
Hardware
The metal parts are chosen according to the masonry, the way the shutters open (folding back 180º or at 90º to the wall) and the customer’s taste.
HAUFEN® uses shutter rods, catches, stays and wind hooks from Roto / Maco. Stainless steel parts and traditional “French” hinges are available as options.
All metal parts can be painted in RAL colours on request.
