Painting
The painting process and the colour quality are one of the most important factors of long-lasting durability and tastefulness of our wooden windows.
A whole science lies behind the technique of painting our wooden windows. HAUFEN® has a long-standing experience of 60 years producing wooden windows and hence extensive know-how in the field of colour materials, which in combination with the new technologies applied today shields the surface of the wood and guarantees perfect finishing and attention to detail.
Moreover, the dye quality sector is one of the main reasons for our customers’ unconditional preference, as it results in extremely well-done work and more durability over time.
During the last 20 years, HAUFEN® has installed thousands of wooden windows in the islands of Greece, in homes by the sea and in mountains, in homes that are hit by really difficult and adverse weather conditions. The painting of our windows responds perfectly and justifies our reputation.
This success is not accidental.

The painting procedure is performed in ultrasonic robotic installations of electrostatic painting and includes the following phases:
- Impregnation: the window is sprayed – fully immersed with fungicidal preservatives in a flowcoating chamber.
- Drying procedure: In a closed room with controlled temperature and humidity, the surface is “sanded” by a special machine and by hand.
- Two or three electrostatic paint layers with varnish and colouring agents or RAL colours: All steps require the necessary drying time, the treatment of the wood surface and the strict quality control of each individual step till the final layer.
All dyes are “open porus” with elastic properties to allow natural wood to “breathe” on the one hand and to fully guarantee the avoidance of cracks in the dyeing surface.
HAUFEN® uses ecologically water-soluble paints from the leading company Sigma (a member of the PPG Group) and Teknos Gori, which guarantees an excellent smooth surface, long-lasting resistance to harsh weather conditions with temperature and humidity changes, effective UV protection of the UV- and easy care and maintenance.
The process of painting begins by injecting and removing all the fungi from the wood. Multiple colour coatings are then sprayed onto the surface of the wood.
The painting cycle applied by HAUFEN® is time consuming since it lasts about eight days. This is how we ensure quality and durability in our paint.
